Custom Camera Rigs and Power Distribution on Film Sets

On modern film and television sets, camera operators must carry far more than the camera body. Heavy anamorphic lenses, wireless video transmitters, external director’s monitors, wireless lens-control motors, and timecode generators all need to operate on the same rig. Under these loads, standard universal cages can flex, shift the center of gravity, and create unmanageable cable routing.

Cinedepth’s custom camera-rig systems are machined from 7075 aerospace-grade aluminum on 5-axis CNC equipment to deliver maximum rigidity at minimum weight. Purpose-designed pocketing strategies reduce mass while preserving the camera’s natural balance and the operator’s freedom of movement.

On set, a five-minute battery change or a loose mounting screw can disrupt the entire production schedule. We therefore design every connection around secure, tool-free ARRI and NATO standards.

Power management is equally critical. When multiple accessories draw from a single V-Mount or Gold-Mount battery, motor noise and voltage fluctuations can interrupt HDMI/SDI feeds or damage sensitive camera electronics. Cinedepth power-distribution boxes (PDBs) provide independent regulation, galvanic isolation, reverse-polarity protection, and overcurrent protection for every output channel.

Advanced Rig and Power Architecture

  • Modular ARRI Rosettes and NATO Rails: Reconfigure from handheld to shoulder-mounted or gimbal operation in seconds.

  • Regulated Power Outputs: 14.8 V D-Tap for the camera, 12 V LEMO for monitors and video transmitters, and 5 V USB-C Power Delivery for accessories.

  • Hard Matte-Anodized Finish: A durable, scratch-resistant surface that prevents reflections under production lighting.

  • Integrated Cable Routing: Ergonomic cable channels that minimize snagging and connector strain on set.

Continuously refined through direct feedback from camera operators, Cinedepth rig systems provide dependable control even through the most demanding moving shots.
